Lang will read from their groundbreaking new book, American Teenager - a vivid and moving portrait of eight trans and nonbinary teens navigating daily life across the United States. In a media landscape that often debates their existence, American Teenager amplifies the voices of young people themselves, sharing their struggles, joys, resilience, and hopes for the future.
From Florida’s conservative panhandle to queer communities in California, Lang captures stories that reveal both the challenges and the everyday humanity of trans and nonbinary youth. Their reporting, based on hundreds of hours of interviews, provides an unparalleled window into what it means to grow up trans in America today.
Following the reading, Lang will join Andy Nelson for a thoughtful discussion on storytelling, visibility, and resilience, with time for audience Q&A.
