Black Heritage Trail of NH, The Music Hall Lounge, and New Hampshire PBS present a special screening of excerpts from THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION, a film by Ken Burns, Sarah Botstein, and David Schmidt.
Following the screening is a moderated conversation between author and historian Glenn Knoblock and Black Heritage Trail executive director JerriAnne Boggis, examining the role of African Americans in the American Revolution.
The overture to the series explores the places, communities, and ideals that inspired the union of the American colonies, and were subsequently impacted by the conflict. Historians reflect on the Revolutionary War as a moment of origin and unity behind a “common cause.”
Further excerpts bring to life the stories of the American Revolution, exploring the ideas and conflicts that ignited independence and the struggles and sacrifices of soldiers, women, and Native and African American allies. It reveals how this pivotal period shaped not just the original Thirteen Colonies, but the future of the entire continent.
