Dr. Head's Presentation: “As 13 of Britain’s colonies declared independence in 1776, the empire’s Florida colonies, East Florida and West Florida, remained loyal to King George. Eyed by American and Spanish forces alike, the Florida’s were soon engulfed in war. This lecture tells the often-overlooked story of Florida in the War of Independence. The West Oaks Branch Library in Ocoee’s Proposed timeline for this is online and will be sent to everyone via email and an event will be created.”
This exhibit will be at the library until it is transferred on Sunday, March 16, 2025.
What the exhibit is about:
"The exhibit consists of 12 panels, designed to be arranged in pairs that cover thematic topics raised by the individuals featured in the exhibition. Examples include “Choosing Sides,” “On the Front Lines” and “Freedom or Slavery.” Three touchscreen displays augment the panels – one focused on the featured individuals, one highlighting places connected to those stories that can still be visited and one that includes Trust-produced animated maps that offer deeper context by showing the course of the full Revolutionary War, as battles unfolded across the continent." - DAR Blog, Nov. 15, 2023, https://blog.dar.org/american-revolution-experience-exhibit-ready-visit-your-community
