American Masterworks
Michael Steven Lianos is currently the Director of Music and Organist at The Cathedral of Saint Patrick in Norwich, CT. At this post, he currently directs the Norwich Diocesan Choir, which pulls its talent from the choirs and directors of music throughout the diocese. He also directs four choirs and handbell ensembles and directs the music for all diocesan events. Every Sunday at 9AM, Michael can be heard on the radio at WICH 1310AM or FM 94.5 and live-streamed on the internet, where he leads the Cathedral Choir on organ.
Michael was the Associate Director of Music here at St. Bede from 2014-2018, where he lead music at the Spanish Mass. He directed handbell and singing choirs as well as offering vocal coaching to cantors and leading a concert series, which often brought in audiences of 200-500 people. One of the popular concerts was this American Masterworks concert. During his time in VA, he was also the interim harpsichordist and also sang with Governor’s Musick, Colonial Williamsburg’s prestigious early music ensemble.
Michael’s other concert venues have been playing organ with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra on their annual Palm Sunday Concert, where they present major works like Faure’s Requiem, Mendelssohn’s O Lord Hear My Prayer, Bach’s Double Concerto for Oboe, Violin and Strings in C Minor, and many others. He also recently played Maslanka’s Symphony No. 4, which features the organ with the New London Coast Guard Band in CT.
