American Mahjong Open Play
About this Event
Bring your own 2026 NMJL card (BYOC)—and if you’d like, your own set or use one provided.
This session is designed for players who already know the basics of American Mahjong. If you’ve taken a class and are ready for real play, you’ll feel right at home. (No instruction will be provided during this event.)
Join us for a fun and welcoming session of American Mahjong! It’s a chance to strategize, socialize, and maybe even win a few games. Whether you come solo or with a friend, there will be a seat at the table for you.
Please reserve your spot today—spaces fill quickly!
We can’t wait to play with you! Come ready to learn, laugh, and connect because Mahjong is always more fun when shared.
Agenda
Open Play
Info: We follow National Mahjong League (NMJL) rules for all play, along with a few House Rules that extend etiquette and help keep the games fair and fun for everyone. Our goal is to foster friendship, meet new people, and help players of all levels improve their skills.
When we have five or nine players, we usually rotate the last East out so a waiting player can join the table. With three players, we often use The Charleston—even though NMJL rules don’t allow it—if everyone at the table agrees on a method that works. Volunteers are welcome to rotate, and players can switch tables to keep the games fair and enjoyable for all.
