American Mahjong Mini Mock Tournament
Advertisement
Join us at Ono Offshore for a Mini Mock Mahjong Tournament designed to give players a chance to experience tournament-style play in a fun, low-pressure environment. Experience the challenge and pace of tournament play, without the pressure!
We're offering two opportunities to participate in November. Choose the day/time that works for you or come to both!
Saturday November 14 1:00 - 3:30pm
Monday November 16 6:30 - 9:00PM
We’ll play two 60-minute rounds, with players rotating tables and seats between rounds, with a goal of completing 4 games per round, with an option for bonus games, if time alllows. Scores will be kept and top scorers acknowledged at the end of the event, just like in a real tournament, but there will be no prizes awarded for placement. This is for fun and practice increasing your pace of play. You'll play for pride, not prizes!
Each participant will also receive one ticket for a random drawing for a few door prizes.
Who Should Attend
No tournament experience is necessary. Players should be able to play American Mahjong independently without instructor assistance, feel comfortable playing at a pace of approximately 3–4 games per hour, and be willing to challenge themselves to keep up with the pace of 4 games in 60 minutes. (Many tournaments have 50-minute rounds, so we're giving you a little extra time!)
Schedule
Doors open 30 minutes before the event start time. Please plan to arrive in time to be seated at the start of the event to hear the rules. We will begin the first round approximately 10–15 minutes after the event start time and will have a 10-minute break between rounds.
Food & Drink
Ono Offshore offers beer, cider, wine, seltzer, and non-alcoholic beverages. We also have small snacks like nuts and chips available for purchase. Grab lunch or dinner beforehand from Aloha Crew Kitchen, located just across the way at Ono Brewing Company.
Registration: $30
All Mahjong supplies are provided. Please bring your current National Mah Jongg League card.
Rules
You will receive an email before the tournament with scoring guidelines and tournament rules.
Minimum Participation
We need a minimum of 12 players to hold the tournament.
Cancellation Policy
Due to limited seating and advance planning for table assignments and rotations, registrations are non-refundable. If you cannot attend, you may transfer your registration to another participant with advance notice.
