Join Keep Blount Beautiful for America Recycles Day on Saturday, November 8th from 9 AM- 12 PM at the Blount County Highway Department (please note the time and location change compared to years past). America Recycles Day is an annual drive-through collection of various items for proper recycling or reuse, including electronics, secure documents, housewares, toothbrushes, eyeglasses, and more. There is no cost to attend this event, but donations are greatly appreciated to cover costs!This year Keep Blount Beautiful is partnering with the Blount County Highway Department to encourage household recycling and household hazardous waste disposal at the Blount County Recycling Center in conjunction with the America Recycles Day collection. Before or after you drop off your items for America Recycles Day, exit the highway department and enter the Blount County Recycling Center at 331 Levi St. (The Recycling Center and the Highway Department are both located at the Blount County Operations Center, but there are two different entrances). Traffic volunteers and staff will be there to assist.
The Blount County Recycling Center will remain open after the America Recycles Day event until 4:30 PM. The center is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8 AM- 4:30 PM.
After the event, join us for a tour of the Blount County Recycling Center to learn more about Blount County’s household recycling, household hazardous waste, and glass recycling operations. Please meet us at the Blount County Highway Department, 1227 McArthur Rd. Maryville, at 12:15 PM for the tour.

ACCEPTED ITEMS AT AMERICA RECYCLES DAY
Please review the information below carefully before packing up your items. Items cannot be dropped off any earlier than 9 AM and the event will end promptly at 12 PM.
PAPER BEE GONE- Sensitive documents for shredding and recycling. Please consider a $5 donation for shredding services!
NOTE: Documents will be accepted from households and small businesses/nonprofits only. Shredding is done on-site. Shredding services will only be available as capacity lasts. Staples, paper clips, and extra small binder clips do not have to be removed, but binding, three ring folders/binders, and medium/large binder clips cannot be shredded and should be removed. To ensure room for sensitive documents only, regular paper should be dropped off at the Blount County Recycling Center.
SCOTT RECYCLING- Electronics. Please consider a donation for the use of electronic recycling services!
NOTE: Documents will be accepted from households and small businesses/nonprofits only. There is a disposal fee for CRT TVs and CRT monitors. Cash or check payment only. Checks can be made out to Scott Recycling. CRT Monitors are $15 each, Small CRT TVs are $25, and Large CRT TVs are $35.

MARYVILLE LIONS CLUB- Prescription eyeglasses (NO sunglasses, safety glasses, or cases)
KEEP BLOUNT BEAUTIFUL
-Reusable grocery bags in good condition (NO backpacks, wine bags, or plastic grocery bags)
-Used Brita products (Brita brand only)
-Used oral care products including empty toothpaste tubes, floss containers, toothbrushes (NO electric toothbrushes or their parts)
-Used air care items including air and home cartridges, plugs, spray nozzles, film packaging (NO aerosol cans)
-Used squeezable snack pouches, such as GoGo squeeZ and other brands
-Non-working hair tools and appliances including hair dryers, curling irons, and styling irons

ITEMS ACCEPTED AT THE BLOUNT COUNTY RECYCLING CENTER- Household Recycling*
The Blount County Recycling Center has four bins for recycling: Glass, single-stream, corrugated cardboard, and newspaper.
Glass- Glass is accepted in the blue bin labeled “Glass Only.” Please remove caps and lids. (NO laminated glass, ceramics, or pottery)
Single-Stream
-Mixed paper (office paper, magazines, junk mail, paperboard, paper bags, wax-coated cartons and cups, etc.), metal cans, plastics #1 and #2
(NO plastic film, food wrappers, disposable silverware, straws, or napkins, styrofoam, aluminum foil/pans, or glass)

Please speak to a recycling attendant to dispose of household hazardous waste.
-Oil-based paint (NO latex paint)
-4ft or 8ft fluorescent tubes (NO other light bulbs)
-Household chemicals
-Automotive products
-Home improvement and maintenance products
-Lawn and garden care products
NO medical/biological waste, explosives/ammunition, radioactive, or waste from businesses/institutions.
