Join us for a special community gathering as we commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the dedication of the historic stone monument honoring Bluemont College.
As part of the nationwide America 250 celebrations, the Polly Ogden Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and the Riley County Genealogical Society (RCGS) invite you to celebrate the deep roots of higher education in Manhattan.
Bluemont College, founded in 1858, laid the groundwork for what would become Kansas State University. A century ago, a stone monument was erected to mark this historic site and, 100 years later, we are gathering to honor that legacy and the people who preserved it.
The ceremony will feature brief remarks from representatives of the Polly Ogden DAR, the Riley County Historical Society, and representatives from city, county, and state government.
This event is free and open to the public. We hope to see you there as we honor our community's rich heritage!
