About this Event

Erasure of History: Is it Truth or Insanity?

As America approaches its 250th anniversary, national parks and historic sites should be preparing to welcome the public with integrity, expertise, and the full American story. Instead, cultural resources—historic places, museum collections, and the professionals who protect them—are being strained by staffing and funding cuts and increasingly targeted by efforts to politicize and narrow what the public learns on federal lands.

Join NPCA and partner organizations for the official kickoff of the National Parks Cultural Resource Coalition, featuring a two panel conversations on (1) defending historical integrity at national parks in the face of “history erasure” pressures and (2) America250 and Beyond. The event concludes with a coordinated Capitol Hill advocacy day to urge Congress to protect cultural resource staffing and funding and to safeguard our parks from political interference in public history.

Who should attend: Congressional staff, advocates, historians, preservation professionals, educators, and members of the public who care about national parks and America’s story.
