We're delighted to welcome Fran Littlewood to Edinburgh with her sensational debut novel, Amazing Grace Adams. Fran will be in conversation with author, journailst and broadcaster Sam Baker, when they will discuss representing women in fiction and the emergence of narratives focussing on women over 40.

Is this the best worst day of her life?
Once, Grace Adams was poised for great things. Now, she barely attracts a second glance as she strides down the street carrying her daughter's sixteenth birthday cake.
But behind the scenes, Grace's life is in freefall. Her husband is divorcing her. Her daughter has banned her from her birthday party. And Grace has just abandoned her car in bumper-to-bumper traffic.
Because Grace Adams has finally had enough. She's sick of being overlooked and underappreciated, and she's particularly tired of being polite. She's about to set off on a journey to rediscover who she is, and confront the secret that has torn her family apart.
What is that secret? You're about to find out . . .
A hopeful, redemptive story, full of love, Amazing Grace Adams is one of our favourite books of 2023/24 and we can't wait to see you at the event.

About the Author:
Fran Littlewood has an MA in Creative Writing from Royal Holloway, University of London. She was taught by Andrew Motion and passed with distinction. Before that she worked as a journalist, including a stint at The Times. She lives in north London with her husband and their three girls. AMAZING GRACE ADAMS is her debut novel.

About Our Chair:
Sam Baker is a journalist, broadcaster and editor. She grew up in Hampshire and after a degree in politics at Birmingham University became a journalist, going on to edit some of the UK’s biggest magazines, including Cosmopolitan and Red. In 2015 she co-founded The Pool with Lauren Laverne. Sam is the author of five novels. Her first work of non-fiction, The Shift: how I (lost and) found myself after 40 – and you can too, has been so successful that Sam has made a podcast out of it!
