In collaboration with Mass Audubon.Join us at The Mount to explore the surrounding woods and wetlands, in search for fascinating spotted salamanders and wood frogs. Each registration requires as least on adult and one child.
Spotted salamanders and wood frogs spend their days under logs, stone, and other forest-floor objects, venturing out only on cool, moist evenings.
Important Things to Know:
1. Meet near the ticket booth.
2. This program will cover up to a mile of unsurfaced trail. Trails are level or gradually sloping. Some sections of trail may be uneven, slippery, and may have obstacles such as exposed tree roots or rocks.
3. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
4. Dress for the weather with long pants, long sleeves, and boots.
5. For extra illumination in the dark, bring a flashlight; ideally one with a red light or covered in a red cloth to avoid removing the group’s natural night vision, if possible.
