About This Class:
Learning to sew is exciting—but learning how to alter your own clothes is one of the most practical skills you can have.
In this 90-minute beginner-friendly workshop, you'll learn simple clothing alterations that can help you improve the fit of your wardrobe, extend the life of your favorite pieces, and build confidence using your sewing machine.
Whether you've ever wished your pants were shorter, your straps fit better, or your shirt had a cleaner fit, this class will introduce you to the fundamentals of clothing alterations.
During class you'll learn:
• Basic hemming techniques
• Strap adjustments
• Taking in simple side seams
• Replacing buttons
• Simple clothing repairs
• Tips for deciding when a garment is worth altering
Students are encouraged to bring one garment they'd like to practice on during class.
Who This Class Is For

✔ Anyone who wants practical sewing skills they can use immediately
What you'll need:
-Your sewing machine (let us know if you don't have one, we have a couple available to borrow for class)
-A t-shirt/tank top to alter (to make smaller, not larger)
-A matching thread (small spool)
-7" inch bent handle fabric scissors
-Quilting pins & magenetic pin cushion
-12" or 18" flexible plastic fashion desig/sewing ruler with grid
-Chalk pen or tailors chalk (for sewing)
