You may have noticed a few tweaks in the last month or so with the way altar serving is done at the parish. We are having a large retraining and call out for all children in the parish to serve the Mass.We have four evenings this month for training and to fill out some basic paperwork to be put in the rotation. ALL SERVERS of the parish not trained in the school have to come to one of these meetings. The time for the training is from 6:30PM till 8:30PM on the following nights: Monday the 12th, Friday the 16th, Monday the 19th, and Wednesday the 21st. Children who want to serve, and who have received their first communion will be trained to serve up till their sophomore year of high school. Children only have to attend one of these meetings to be retrained. We are looking for both old and new servers, so if your child has any interest, please come to one of the evenings and sign up.
In addition to our general servers, we have a special group of servers, the Knights Templar, who are young men in high school who serve at the altar in a more deliberate way in order to discern their vocation. These young men normally serve the 10AM and the 12:30 Masses, as well as the more special Masses of the parish on occasion. They have special monthly training nights (normally the second Sunday of the month) and work in special projects around the parish with their sister group, Perpetua and Felicity. All high school young men (& rising 8th graders) in the parish are invited to the Knights Templar, and all high school young women (& rising 8th graders) of the parish are invited to Perpetua and Felicity, and their next joint meeting is this coming Sunday the 11th after the 5pm Mass in Mcgivney Hall. Dinner will be provided.
