About this Event
Altadena: Between Wilderness and City with Michele Zack
Thursday, March 26 | 7:00 pm
Join noted author and historian Michele Zack for a lively discussion about the re-issue, after 20 years, of her nationally- recognized local history: Altadena: Between Wilderness and City. Zack, who received the Pfleuger Award for best history writing in 2005, explores Altadena’s distinct identity, and places it in context with Pasadena, the region, and nation. State Librarian Kevin Star called her work “urban history at its best,” and in this special presentation, Zack will share insights updating the unincorporated community’s history, including the impact of the devastating Eaton Fire.
The Altadena Historical Society reissued the book in celebration of its 90th anniversary. This new Special Commemorative Edition features enhanced historical photographs and illustrations.
Copies of Altadena: Between Wilderness and City will be available in the Museum Store for the program.
Presentation will begin at 7:00 pm; PMH Galleries will be open for viewing at 6:00 pm.
Space is limited; advance reservations required.
