From the small town of Troy, Alabama, comes a voice that sounds like the soul of the South and the grit of the city. Meet Early James, an Americana-sending troubadour whose music moves straight from heartache to hopeful defiance. His debut album, Singing for My Supper, marked his arrival and showcased a sound that’s part blues, part folk, part rock & soul—with a voice that's “tattered and nervous, with a grainy quaver.”
Early James' gritty and authentic new album, 'Medium Raw', is his most compelling work
to date. The Alabama singer-songwriter weaves dark narratives that resonate with raw
emotion, while blending the whimsical with the profound. Whether baring his soul in sparsely haunting vocals or unleashing full-tilt rock-blues, his songwriting revels in vivid characters, Southern gothic imagery, and an unflinching view of life’s contradictions: “I hope this record reminds people that everyone feels crazy sometimes… the real crazy people are the ones who won’t admit self-doubt.”
