About the Book:

Do you ever wonder about creatures in bayous living in water and muddy clay…

Alligator Stew inspires interest in nature, culture and a love for reading! Along a muddy bayou near the coast of south Louisiana, two curious puppies set out for their daily adventure. Belle and Beau Broussard discover many creatures while roaming and experience an up-close alligator encounter!

Do you ever wonder? Alligator Stew, and Jeanette Weiland’s two previous titles begin with that inspiring phrase. Her lyrical rhyming verse is accompanied by original vibrant watercolor works by her artist mother Roberta Van Zandt Loflin. Many hidden treasures will delight younger readers and encourage future enjoyment.

About the Series: Louisiana Hard-bound Classics! Following the success of Beignets for Breakfast and Red Beans & Rice, Alligator Stew builds on a cultural core representing Louisiana’s flora, fauna, and traditions. All titles are $19.95.

Beignets for Breakfast explores the fantastic traditions New Orleans kids uniquely enjoy—ones that bring us all together, written by Weiland and illustrated by Allison Lemon. Farm to table comes to life along with polite manners in Red Beans & Rice, by Weiland and illustrated by Loflin.

About the Author: Jeanette Weiland lives with her family in New Orleans and greatly enjoys writing children’s books that highlight the natural beauty of Louisiana and its cultural traditions. In addition to writing and publishing children’s books, Jeanette has full-time finance career and serves on non-profit boards for organizations aiming to make the Louisiana community a stronger one.

About the Artist: Roberta is a mother, grandmother, avid gardener and professional artist specializing in the watercolor medium. She lives in Baton Rouge with her husband and frequently teaches watercolor classes through the Art Guild of Louisiana.
