Our first session back for our Wildlife Watch group for 8-12 year olds is All Things Birds. We'll be doing some bird spotting at the fantastic bird feeding station at Loch of Blairs, making our own bird feeders, playing some bird games and making some goldeneye nest boxes with Colin MacLennan from the Strathspey Goldeneye Study Group. Did you know that some ducks, including goldeneye, nest off the ground in holes in trees (or purpose built nest boxes)? Colin will be bringing some goldeneye nest box kits along for us to help to build. There may also be the opportunity to make your own garden bird box to take home.We ask for a £2 donation per child to cover our running costs. Parents are welcome to stay too.
