About this Event
We’re so glad that you are a CNPS Redbud member (or a subscriber for our Redbud newsletter). Perhaps you attended a Redbud program this past year. We hope you enjoyed yourself and took home lots of new insights about the natural world around us and perhaps, a few locally native plants for your garden!
Please join us again at our All Member Winter Picnic, which is coming up on February 25, 2026 at the General Gomez Center in downtown Auburn from 3-6:30 pm.
We have a wonderful program on Fantastic Fungal Relationships with Thea Chesney in store for you, and we’ll also be offering scrumptious refreshments and a native plant sale!
This is our annual meeting for members where we’ll elect Redbud officers. If you’re not already a member of Redbud, please join us, so that you can vote! It’s easy. Just visit our website. There are lots of member benefits. Folks that are not yet members are also warmly welcome to attend this event.
We hope to see all of you at the All Member Winter Picnic. Until then, thank you for attending our programs, being a member or becoming a member and making a difference for California’s native plants and habitats--today and in the future.
In plant community,
Leslie Warren, President
CNPS Redbud

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Thea Chesney is a lifelong Sierra Nevada foothill resident and naturalist. She has had an interest in mushrooms (and plants, and the rest of the natural world) since early childhood, which gradually became an obsession. She holds a B.S. in forestry from UC Berkeley. During her time at Berkeley, she spent plenty of time working and hanging out in the Berkeley mycology labs. She worked on a mushroom survey crew around Mt. Shasta for several seasons, which allowed her to become intimately familiar with the fungal inhabitants and ecology of the area. Since then, she has worked a variety of field jobs, primarily as a botanist. She teaches occasional workshops in mushroom and plant identification. Her fieldwork and her own studies of plants and fungi are centered in the Sierra Nevada and other mountains of California.
