This Black Friday, "Laughing Through Life" is officially Blackout approved, meaning every dollar you spend circulates within Black owned businesses, Black creatives, and Black culture.

Picture this. You enter a Black owned establishment. Black owners and Black servers welcome you. A Black DJ is spinning the soundtrack of our lives. The walls are alive with beautiful Black art. You meet the Black artists and feel the stories in their work. Black women curate the entire experience. A Black comedian hosts the comedy show and features a lineup of brilliant Black voices. To your left, Black people are laughing. To your right, Black people are eating. Flavorful Haitian cuisine prepared by the hands of a powerful Black woman. This is Black Friday the way it should be.

This is more than a show. It is a celebration of Black brilliance. See you there.

Laughing Through Life: A Many Tongues™ Experience

The Many Tongues™ Exhibition continues with Laughing Through Life, a night of comedy, storytelling, and soulful release. This gathering centers joy as resistance — using laughter as a language of healing, truth-telling, and connection.

Hosted by Jecorey Hawkins, Eye N Eye LLC, and High Society Lounge, the evening features performances from Detroit comedians, poets, and storytellers who remind us that humor and honesty often share the same stage. Through curated sets, open mic moments, and audience reflections, the night explores how we survive, remember, and thrive — one laugh at a time.

Guests can enjoy handcrafted cocktails, small bites, and the vibrant energy of Detroit’s creative community. More than a comedy show, Laughing Through Life is a collective exhale — a reminder that laughter, like art, can free us, ground us, and bring us closer together.
