Algerian Cinema: Short Stories, Big Voices
About this Event
Join DzFest 2026 for an afternoon of Algerian short films, presented in collaboration with Lhara Film.
This screening brings together a selection of contemporary Algerian stories exploring land, memory, identity, heritage, everyday life and the voices often left outside dominant narratives. Through intimate portraits, local landscapes and personal journeys, the programme offers a window into Algeria beyond clichés, folklore or inherited colonial frames.
As part of DzFest’s wider theme of Heritage and Decolonisation, this event asks how cinema can help us see Algeria differently: not as an object of nostalgia, but as a living, complex and contemporary culture shaped by history, resistance, migration and imagination.
The screening will be followed by an open debate and discussion.
