Alex Xuyao Bai, 15, is a Year 11 student at Dilworth School, Auckland, and studies piano with Stephen de Pledge. He earned a Trinity LTCL Diploma with Distinction at age 11, became the youngest-ever winner of the Lewis Eady National Piano Competition in 2024, and won Second Prize at the International Piano Competition Kronberg in 2025.Alex has performed in New Zealand and Germany, collaborated with the New Zealand Symphony Orchestra and Auckland Philharmonia Orchestra through their Emerging Artists Programmes. A keen chamber musician and community performer, he also plays clarinet and violin and is active in his school ensembles.
