SHARE THIS! "50 States 50 Marches" has been making the rounds on socials, but it has been disorganized and no one has taken a lead. It's not clear who has been promoting these event memes, but it's getting traction and it would be a shame to waste that momentum.
I've never done this before so bear with me.
It's unlikely folks will be able to pull permits in time, but there is nothing wrong with meeting up to connect and share info. I'm not an organizer, I'm just acting as a communications hub and concerned citizen.
Starts at noon in front of the Albany Capitol Building (East Capitol Park), goes until we run out of steam. We'' start in the park and take it from there, this is an evolving situation. I'm hoping to get a permit, otherwise this *should* fall under "Spontaneous Large Group Events", due to "news or affairs coming into public knowledge within 3 days" aka the protest meme taking hold, and/or <insert insane="" trump="" admin="" action="" here="">.
There's a very real chance the group will be told to disperse within short notice of the start time and there isn't much to be done about it, other than report on it. Basically be ready to bail on a moment's notice.
RULES:
- NO violence, no weapons, no paraphernalia, nothing sus
- Keep an eye out for agitators/agent provocateurs
- If asked to disperse or if anything starts to get at all spicy, GTFO
- No blocking traffic
If things get rowdy, here are possible egress routes, disperse outward then make your way to your transit:
- Southwest toward Empire Plaze
- East-southeast along State street to the riverfront
- Northwest along State street towards Washington Park
I got a generator, an offroad cart, all sorts of microphone and PA equipment, but I could really use some assistance cause I'm not the most organized person.
I would advise against bringing any kind of picketing or sineage until we have a better idea what the plan is.
Suggested things to bring:
- Warm clothes
- Warm drink in a thermos
- Something offline to take notes with, pen and paper is ideal
