DICMF is proud to present a special afternoon event at Kilmainham Gaol featuring the Scottish-Nigerian trumpeter Aaron Azunda Akugbo, South African baritone Kamohelo Tsotetsi and Dublin Youth Choir with its dynamic director, Lynsey Callaghan.

Taking place in the iconic setting of Kilmainham Gaol’s East Wing, the concert is entitled 16:14 to signal the local time Nelson Mandela walked free from Victor Verster Pr*son in 1990. The programme features a number of works inspired by defining moments in Black History, including Mandela’s release, Martin Luther King’s landmark “I Have a Dream” speech, and the Middle Passage – the long and abominable journey from Africa to the Americas that countless Black slaves were forced to endure.

Presented in partnership with the Office of Public Works

and in association with Kilmainham Gaol Museum

Supported by Dublin City Council
