In Celebration of Black History MonthThe City of Rochester's Black Heritage Committee and Mayor Malik D. Evans invite you to a FREE Black Heritage Gospel Concert featuring Akoma and Voices of Thunder.
Join us on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM at Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church, located at 351 Joseph Ave. The event is open to the public and free of charge.
This concert raises funds for scholarships to help graduating high school seniors pursue their education. Your attendance supports a great cause!
AKOMA is Rochester’s African American Women’s Gospel Choir. Their name, which comes from the West African Akan language, means patience, endurance, consistency, and faithfulness. Their Adinkra symbol, the heart, represents compassion, tenderness, and charity.
Voices of Thunder is a citywide all-male chorus dedicated to uplifting the name of the Lord through powerful and inspiring music.
