One of the most anticipated events in the Men's Golfing Calendar is the AKO Irrigation Red Gum Plate Qualifying event is on Sunday 18th January with a shotgun start at 9AM.Following the Red Gum Qualifier there will be a BBQ Lunch for all and tickets will be sold for the Red Gum Calcutta that will also be held on the same day around 2.30 to 3pm.
The cost for the Qualifying round for the AKO Irrigation is $30 per player, which will include Green Fees, Competition Fees, BBQ and $5 worth of Calcutta tickets. Costing for Gold Members will be $14.
The Draw for the Red Gum Matchplay is as follows:
1st Round to be played by Sunday 1st February
2nd Round to be played by Sunday 8th February
3rd Round to be played by Sunday 15th February
Semi Finals to be played on Saturday 21st February
Final to be played on Saturday 28th February.
Rules to note for players to Qualify for the AKO Irrigation are as follows:
Players must be financially Current Gold, Golfing, Introductory, Golfing (18 to 23) or Junior as at 18th January.
Players must have played 6 individual scoring games from 20th January 2025 to 17th January 2026.
Players play off their golf handicap for the Qualifying round.
For players that qualify for the Match Play, the maximum handicap for the Match Play draw will be 27. For players that may play off for example 30 in the Qualifying Round must play off 27 in the Match Play rounds.
NEW Condition for 2026 Red Gum Qualifier:
A "Wild Card" condition has been added to this year's Red Gum Qualifier in which the previous year's Red Gum Plate Winners are given the chance to defend their title.
Conditions for this are: They must play as the same team in this year’s Qualifying round and if they miss qualifying in the top 32 teams, they can use their "wild card" and will qualify as the 32 team.
If they qualify in the top 32 teams, then the "Wild Card" is no longer an option.
The winning team from the 2025 Red Gum were Issac Piva and Alex Minato.
