Aka Belle return to HQ - "all of Side B on our new album was recorded live at HQ in May 2024 - it's the side we call "Now Is All You Have" - which comes from a sticker that was stuck on the alley door of HQ - so we thought we'd celebrate both the album release and the anniversary of the recording by playing a show at the venue. Looking forward to seeing you, La Grande!"
Boise, ID- based AKA BELLE was formed by songwriters Catherine (vocals, guitar, vibraphone) and Sam Merrick (guitars, vocals) - who are married. Joining them are long time friends, Anthony Mulparry (stand up bass), Jake Stigers (drums, percussion, vocals), and Christine Nygard (vocals, guitar, theremin), who first saw the band when she was 17 and manifested the dream to join them by the time she was 19.
So, cult/family…sort of…
AKA BELLE are known for their quirky, glittery often ceremonial performances complete with homemade stage props. They fearlessly defy genres with a unique blend of kitschy-bewitching psych-folk, sci-fi-bossa-nova infused rock n roll, and protest pop.
Their passionate calls for love, resistance and soul-lifting energy serve as reminders that we are all part of this beautiful Universe and the Earth we call home.
