About this Event
Youth Voice: Putting Young People at the Center of Your Program
When young people have a say in what happens in their programs, engagement deepens, relationships strengthen, and outcomes improve.
This month's AIMS gathering digs into practical, real-world strategies for centering youth in your out-of-school time programming. From simple feedback tools like youth surveys to more structured approaches like youth-led advisory councils, we'll explore a spectrum of ways to invite young people into the decision-making process.
We'll hear from a guest presenter Joel Harris of TomTod Ideas and a panel of AIMS providers who will share what's worked, what they've learned, and how they've grown their programs by listening to the young people they serve.
Presenter Bio (Joel Harris):
Joel Daniel Harris is the founder and Executive Dreamer at TomTod Ideas, a community-centered idea incubator for middle schoolers based in NE Ohio. Over the past 14 years the TomTod team has worked with thousands of middle schoolers in exploring their communities and creating ideas to help people of all ages grow and thrive. JDH has a Masters in Educational Leadership from Harvard University but, more importantly, has two daughters (11 & 9) that force him to move from early adolescent theory to practice every day.
