The Aikido International Foundation (AIF) will be offering a seminar hosted at North Shore Aikido. The seminar will be led by Brandon Nimz Sensei (instructor info below), and the suggested donation for Saturday is $60, Sunday $30, or $80 for the weekend, but any amount--as low as $0 or as high as you like--is fine. All proceeds will go the Aikido International Foundation and will be used to support Aikido training initiatives in the US and globally. The schedule is as follows:Saturday:
11 AM - 1 PM / Aikido Training
3 PM - 5 PM / Aikido Training
Sunday:
10 AM - 12 PM / Aikido Training
Brandon Nimz Sensei (sandan) is the CEO of the Aikido International Foundation and Dojo cho of Aikido of Northwest Kansas. Nimz Sensei has been teaching Aikido since 2007 and is in charge of instructional programs at Fort Hays State University, Wichita, Blue Rapids, and his own dojo in Hays, KS. Nimz Sensei has taught both internationally and in the US; his Aikido is primarily informed by senior instructors from the previous generation of the Aikido Association of America and from his instructor, Tatsuo Toyoda Sensei. Encouraged by his Sensei to go out and train with other groups and organizations, Nimz Sensei was uchideshi (a live-in Aikido student) in Japan for a short stretch of time and has trained for extended stays in other associations in the US and abroad to further open up his understanding of the art. Additionally, while the Aikido Association of America does emphasize specific components of internal work and has informed some of Nimz Sensei's practices therein, the bulk of his current practices in those fields is informed by Dan Harden and Sangenkai members (though it is still very much a work in progress).
