About this Event
During this program, Amanda Loper, AIA, LEED AP, a Principal of David Baker Architects, will discuss the firms design framework as outlined in the recently published book, 9 Ways to Make Housing for People.
Combining how-to with why-to, Ms. Loper will lay out the core framework the firm uses to help communities develop places for people to thrive. Layered together, these “9 Ways to Make Housing for People” combine to heighten the effectiveness, utility, comfort, and enjoyment of a completed building or community. These strategies range from structural to sensorial, enhancing the building experience for residents and neighbors alike.

Amanda Loper, AIA, LEED AP, is a Principal at David Baker Architects. Amanda established and leads DBA_BHM, the firm’s southeastern office in Birmingham, Alabama. Amanda works across the country to help diverse cities effectively address their affordable housing crises and to enhance urban livability. In 2021, she was recognized with an AIA Young Architects Award, which honors individuals who have demonstrated exceptional leadership and made significant contributions to the architecture profession early in their careers.
Amanda is the author, with David Baker and Daniel Simons, of the new book 9 Ways to Make Housing for People (ORO Editions).
