AI Safety Legislation Workshop

Artificial Intelligence is poised to be one of the most transformative technologies of the 21st century. How can we govern the use of this technology to avoid catastrophic harm, while preserving its incredible potential?

A recently proposed bill, Senate Bill 1047, seeks to require developers to meet certain safety and security protocols while developing frontier models. At this workshop, we will read over the bill and attitudes toward it from experts in the field. We will then discuss the pros and cons of the bill.

During the workshop, we will:

1. Read over SB-1047
2. Read the opinions of AI luminaries on SB-1047
3. Host a group discussion about the pros and cons of SB-1047

This event is open to anyone regardless of experience level with AI. Paid parking is available, but the library is also within walking distance of Metro Center Station, so taking the metro might be more convenient.
