About this Event
⚙️ AI in Practice: How to Use AI Responsibly in the Real World
Tuesday 26 May | 11.00am to 1.30pm | Sussex Innovation
Join Alex Leathard from Hecaton Consulting for the second event in this 3-part AI series.
Building on the first session, this event will go into more detail, using concrete business examples and a practical framework to explore where AI might help, where it can fail, and what responsible use really looks like.
Rather than staying at the level of theory, this session will work through real scenarios including forecasting demand, interpreting customer feedback, using third-party AI tools, reviewing job applications, summarising business performance, and understanding the risks that appear when systems are trained on incomplete or biased data.
In this session, we’ll cover:
- where AI might solve real business problems
- how AI works, and where it breaks
- why good data quality matters
- the risks of using third-party AI systems
- common limitations and failure modes
- hidden costs, trust, and liability
- a practical framework for deciding whether an AI use case is ready, safe, and worth pursuing
You’ll leave with:
- a clearer understanding of how AI behaves in real business settings
- more confidence spotting risks and asking better questions
- a practical framework to help you assess AI opportunities in your own organisation
Why attend?
You’ll leave with a better understanding of how AI is operationalised in practice, how to navigate compliance and data risks, and how to apply these ideas more confidently in your own organisation or sector. It also sets you up well for the third and final session in the series, which moves into more advanced questions around development, risk and mitigation.
