About this Event
The Johns Hopkins AI Ethics and Governance Symposium will bring together leading science, humanities, and engineering scholars, technologists, and policymakers to bridge parallel, siloed conversations in AI ethics, safety, assurance, and algorithmic fairness to synthesize and map a collective approach for addressing the most pressing issues in AI ethics and governance. The Symposium will address these issues across the spectrum of AI, from foundational computer science and engineering to large language models and autonomous machines, and applications in defense and security, biomedicine and health care, transportation, and more.
Led by the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics [and co-hosted/co-sponsored by DSAII, IAA, WSE, Philosophy?], this public symposium on Oct. 7, 2024, at the new Hopkins Bloomberg Center in Washington, DC, will draw on the university’s unparalleled ability to convene leading experts from across academia, industry, and government, to begin the critical work of bridging siloed conversations and literatures, and building an interdisciplinary community to work toward a future where the development and application of AI is aligned with societal needs, interests, and values.
