AI & Media Detective: Can You Trust What You See?

What if something looks completely real – but the story behind it isn’t?

AI-generated images, edited videos, misleading captions, old photos presented as new, and content stripped of its original context are making it increasingly difficult to know what to trust online. And spotting a strange hand or a blurry background isn’t always enough.

In this interactive, game-based workshop, you will become a media detective. You will investigate a series of digital media examples – some authentic, some altered, some AI-generated, and some misleading because of their context or presentation. You’ll follow clues, question your first impressions, examine sources and evidence, and decide what deserves your trust – and what deserves a closer look.

You don’t need to be an AI expert or a media studies student. Just bring your curiosity – and be prepared to have your first impressions challenged!

You will leave with a practical AI & Media Detective Toolkit you can use when navigating news, social media, academic research, and other digital content.
