AI and the Imagination: Interdisciplinary AI Conference 2027

April 20–23, 2027 | Oral Roberts University | Tulsa, Oklahoma

Conference Website: https://oru.edu/academics/cose/ai-and-the-imagination/index.php

What happens when artificial intelligence moves from science fiction into everyday life?

Join writers, scientists, technology leaders, educators, theologians, philosophers, and creative thinkers at Oral Roberts University in Tulsa for AI and the Imagination, an interdisciplinary conference exploring how artificial intelligence is changing human life and the future we are creating.

Featuring:

• Orson Scott Card — Award-winning author of Ender’s Game and Speaker for the Dead
• Pat Gelsinger — Former CEO of Intel and VMware; Executive Chairman and Head of Technology at Gloo
• Joan Slonczewski, PhD — Award-winning science fiction author and Professor of Biology at Kenyon College
• Ben John, PhD — CTO of Digital Turbine and former Microsoft AI executive

The conference brings together conversations that too often happen separately. Scientists and technologists are developing increasingly powerful AI systems. Writers and artists are imagining possible futures. Philosophers and theologians are questioning what these developments mean for human identity, dignity, and responsibility. Educators and leaders are deciding how to respond.

Across four days, participants will explore artificial intelligence and creativity, science fiction, ethics, theology, education, leadership, scientific discovery, human agency, and society.

Who should attend?

Faculty, researchers, students, technology professionals, business and nonprofit leaders, writers, artists, faith leaders, and anyone interested in the human implications of artificial intelligence.

Call for Papers and Presentations: Proposals are welcome across disciplines through March 5, 2027, with rolling review.
