About this Event
The rise of increasingly easily accessible AI generators for image, text, and music in the last few years has caused much controversy. Concerns have been raised about copyright and ownership, as well as the biases and stereotyping that their outputs rest upon and perpetuate. Authors and artists have filed lawsuits or incorporated GenAI into their practice. Galleries have replaced works on loan with AI-generated examples, AI-generated content has won prizes, and competitions have both banned and made categories for them.
At this event, speakers will explore AI in different contexts and papers include:
‘AI and the Death of ART... again.’, Rachael Parsons, Director of the New England Regional Art Museum
‘The Ethical Implications of AI Ekphrasis for Creative Writing’, Chris Rees, PhD Researcher in Creative Writing, University of New England
‘Digital Dreaming - AI as a Creative Medium in Poetry Film and Music Video’, Dr Donna Hewitt, Associate Professor in Music, University of New England
‘Fakes and creativity: using reproductions, copies, and AI in ancient object stories’, Dr Ariella Van Luyn, Senior Lecturer in Creative Writing, University of New England and Dr Alina Kozlovski, Lecturer in Digital Innovation (Ancient History and Archaeology), University of New England
The full schedule will be available closer to the date.
