AI Agents and Robotics Student Hackathon
About this Event
This team-based student hackathon challenges participants to design, build, and evaluate an AI-powered Ohbot robot that helps make a difficult human interaction better.
Working in teams of upto four, students will create an AI agent powered by a large language model and bring it to life through Ohbot’s expressive face and voice. Using Python, the Ohbot API and provided AI service credits, teams will develop a working prototype that demonstrates effective, useful and responsible human-robot interaction.
Participants will explore how embodied AI can support people in meaningful real-world situations, with suggested themes including education and healthcare. An example use case may be shared for inspiration, but teams are encouraged to interpret the challenge creatively and develop their own ideas.
The challenge is to create something innovative and demonstrate that the solution improves the interaction it was designed for and does so responsibly (compared to a traditional system or a mobile app).
Up to eight shortlisted teams will participate, with each team receiving access to an Ohbot robot for the duration of the hackathon.
A total prize pool of £1,000 will be awarded to the winning teams.
What attendees will take away?
Participants will gain practical experience in:
- Robotics and embodied AI
- Python development and rapid prototyping
- Multidisciplinary teamwork
- Responsible innovation
- Testing and evaluating an AI solution
- Presenting and demonstrating a working concept
Who should attend?
University and college students interested in AI, robotics, software development, design, business, healthcare, sustainability or innovation.
Participants do not need to be robotics experts, but each team should include someone with basic Python programming experience.
