Learning CPR can help save a life during the critical minutes before first responders arrive.
This American Heart Association (AHA) Heartsaver® CPR/AED course is provided by the Santa Clara County Fire Department.
The Heartsaver® CPR/AED course includes:
- Adult, Child & Infant CPR training
- How to use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- How to assist and adult, child or infant who is choking
- 2-year Heartsaver® CPR/AED AHA course completion card
- CPR Manual
NOTE: This is not a BLS HeartCode® course for Healthcare Providers or First Responders.
IMPORTANT: If you need a ACLS, BLS or PALS CPR class - do not purchase this class.

Recommended for 13 years and older. If the participant is a minor, a parent or guardian is required to sign paperwork on his/her behalf at the beginning of the skills practice and testing session.

Learning Objectives - At the conclusion, participants should be able to:
1. Describe how high-quality CPR improves survival
2. Explain the concepts of the Chain of Survival
3. Recognize when someone needs CPR
4. Perform high-quality CPR for an adult
5. Describe how to perform CPR with help from other bystanders
6. Give effective breaths by using mouth-to-mouth or a mask for all age groups
7. Utilize an AED on an adult
8. Perform high-quality CPR for a child
9. Utilize an AED on a child
10. Perform high-quality CPR for an infant
11. Describe when and how to help a choking adult or child
12. Demonstrate CPR by helping a choking infant
13. Describe how to help someone with drug overdose emergencies
14. Describe the techniques that help prevent drowning emergencies

This course is open to individuals who live or work within the communities served by Santa Clara County Fire Department: Campbell, Cupertino, Los Gatos, Los Altos, Los Altos Hills, Monte Sereno, Saratoga and the unincorporated surrounding communities.
