AHA CPR Instructor Course

Take the next step in your professional development with the American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) CPR Instructor Course at Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps in Bayside, Queens, NYC.

This comprehensive instructor course is designed for healthcare professionals and experienced rescuers who want to become certified to teach AHA BLS and CPR courses. Students will build on their current life support knowledge while learning how to effectively teach others the essential skills of CPR, AED use, and relief of choking for adults, children, and infants.

At BVAC, students train in a professional training environment in Bayside, Queens—not in a back room or makeshift setting. Our goal is to provide serious, safety-focused instruction for responsible applicants who want high-quality training, clear guidance, and the documentation needed for the NYS concealed carry licensing process.

At Bayside Volunteer Ambulance Corps, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, proceeds from this course help support the purchase of equipment for our training programs and community education efforts.

Students must bring a current AHA CPR card to class.
Candidates must complete the online portion of the Instructor Essentials Course for their respective discipline before attending this course.

The AHA BLS CPR Instructor Course covers the knowledge and teaching techniques needed to become an effective instructor, including:

• Core BLS Skills
  Review and strengthen your knowledge of adult and pediatric CPR, AED use, and choking emergencies.
• Instructional Methodology
  Learn how to teach BLS using AHA-approved materials, structured lesson delivery, hands-on practice, and training aids.
• Course Planning
  Understand how to organize and manage BLS classes, including lesson flow, scheduling, and adapting instruction to different audiences.

  Learn how to assess student skills, provide feedback, and support successful course completion.
• Current AHA Guidelines
  Train in accordance with the most current AHA guidance and evidence-based best practices.

  Practice teaching BLS skills so you can build confidence and improve your instructional ability.

AHA BLS Instructors play an important role in preparing healthcare providers and community members to respond to cardiac and breathing emergencies. By teaching others how to perform high-quality CPR and use an AED, instructors help strengthen the chain of survival and improve outcomes in life-threatening situations.

After successful completion of the Instructor Essentials Course and the classroom portion of this course, candidates will be monitored by Faculty while teaching their first course the same day. Once all required steps are successfully completed, candidates will receive an AHA Instructor card, valid for two years.
