Sing Muses, Sing of the Wrath of Achilles – but wait, is that really the best place to start?
An adaptation of Homer’s Iliad, Age of the Hero is a concert style musical that follows the beginning and end of the war in Troy – a story with heroism, sacrifice, and duty at its core – and a battle for glory and legacy. Featuring an original pop-rock soundtrack, Age of the Hero is a retrospective of the epic woven with contemporary interpretations of the text. Described by the Daily Info as ‘a musical masterpiece’, you don’t want to miss it!
The show was previously staged under the title ‘Troy Story: Age of the Hero’, and is produced by Offie Award winning production company Musketeer Productions.
“I’ve never felt this connected to The Iliad, and its big questions of pride and duty, love and sacrifice, its bruised heart and cautionary tale. […] It feels extremely unlikely to me that this will be your only chance to see this momentous work, but you should still make every effort to. It’s a masterpiece.” – Sophia Holme, Daily Info
“Lena Hayter’s Hamilton-esque compositions [were] poised and without fault to the untrained ear.” – Emily Formstone, The Oxford Student
“The music itself was incredibly sophisticated, and as a musical theatre fan, I can honestly imagine it as a cast recording or on a bigger stage.” – S Hardaker, The Poor Print
