12-piece powerhouse Agbeko are inspired by the lineage of Afrobeat from Fela Kuti to Antibalas via modern-day psychedelia of The Heliocentrics, writing their own chapter combining Ethio-jazz, Protest Song and avant-rock. An onslaught of horns, driven grooves, moving lyrics and cathartic soloing, Agbeko consistently perform major UK festivals including Green Man, Kendal Calling, Boomtown and Manchester Jazz Festival, as well as in France, Italy, Spain, Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia and Malta. They represented hometown Manchester in WOMEX24’s opening concert.
With a Spellemann nomination for their debut album in hand, Sūn Byrd is ready to kick off the new campaign for their sophomore album In Paradiso. Heavily inspired by American and British soul from the 60s and 70s.
With a horn section that never rests, basslines that drive the songs forward, vocals that melt you away and undeniable coolness!
Sūn Byrd’s music is universal and timeless, and there’s really nothing that sounds like this on the Norwegian music scene today.
It’s perfect for large festival stages, would make a great soundtrack for countless films, or simply while you hang out after closing time at a smoke-filled off-license bar in the southern U.S.
