About this Event
Aftershock: A Community Documentary Screening
Join us for a powerful community screening of Aftershock, a documentary that centers the lived experiences of families impacted by preventable childbirth deaths and exposes the urgent realities of the U.S. maternal health crisis.
Following the deaths of two young mothers, Aftershock chronicles how surviving family members transform grief into advocacy—galvanizing birth workers, physicians, activists, and communities to demand accountability, equity, and change. Through their stories, the film humanizes the statistics and highlights the disproportionate risks Black mothers continue to face before, during, and after birth.
This screening is designed to do more than inform. It is an opportunity to reflect, connect, and engage in meaningful dialogue about maternal health—while learning how to support and invest in solutions locally.
Attendees will also be introduced to community-based organizations, resources, and initiatives working to improve maternal health outcomes across Nevada. Both screenings serve as opportunities to build momentum, amplify local efforts, and invite community members, partners, and sponsors to support ongoing Black maternal health advocacy.
Whether you are a parent, birth worker, healthcare professional, advocate, or community supporter, we invite you to join us for this impactful experience and be part of the movement toward safer, more equitable care for all families.
