Join us for a unique opportunity to learn from a highly respected actor, writer, director, and producer whose career has spanned stage and screen, with an exceptional body of work across television, film, and theatre.
About Ian Puleston-Davies
Ian's impressive acting career includes standout roles in renowned productions such as Tin Star, Viewpoint, Four Lives, Vera, Coronation Street, Marcella, Being Human, and Silent Witness. He has also built an accomplished career as a writer and director, bringing his experience on both sides of the camera to his work.
As a writer, Ian co-wrote the award-winning drama Dirty, Filthy Love with Jeff Pope, starring Michael Sheen. His directorial credits include Time Out, part of Jimmy McGovern's acclaimed BBC series Moving On, and his feature film directorial debut, Bolan's Shoes, starring Timothy Spall.
Ian continues to be actively involved in new film and television projects. His short film Box of Frogs, which he wrote, directed, and produced through his production company Minera, has been making its way through the festival circuit.
His short drama Being Billy, directed by Ian for MancMade and starring Con O'Neill as a Falklands veteran living with dementia, has also enjoyed a highly successful festival run, receiving several awards, nominations, and official selections.
About the Workshop:
This is an exclusive in-the-room workshop, limited to just 12 participants per class. The minimum age to participate is 16.
Before the workshop, you will receive a scene to work on. On the workshop day, you'll have the chance to perform the script, with Ian guiding you through his expert direction.

This is an exclusive interactive workshop for just 12 participants per class.
The age range is 16 years and above.
Line Learning Commitment:
When you enroll, please commit to learning your lines. They don't need to be word-perfect, but having them off the page is respectful to your scene partner and allows you both to fully connect and make the most of the experience.
No-shows:
If you can no longer attend, please let us know as soon as possible. No-shows can leave a scene partner without someone to work with, so advance notice is greatly appreciated.
Scene Partners
Participants are paired in advance and scripts are selected specifically for the actors involved. Once scripts have been distributed, please be aware that cancelling can leave your scene partner without their scene partner on the day.
Please only book if you can commit to attending.
Cancellation Policy
- More than 14 days before the workshop: cancellations can be refunded.
- Less than 14 days before the workshop: the booking is non-refundable unless we are able to fill your place.
- Once scripts have been distributed: refunds will not normally be possible, as your scene partner and the workshop preparation will already have been arranged.
- If First Take Workshops cancels the workshop: you will receive a full refund.
