Afternoon Walk — Regenerating, Restoring, Reconnecting

Registration is FREE and open to all. Priority will be given to those active in climate work from most impacted communities.

Join the Human Impacts Institute for guided walks near Pier 57 which invite participants to reflect on the relationships and responsibilities that shape our collective future. Through intergenerational dialogue, care for future generations, global youth solidarity, democratic renewal, and a deeper connection to the land, each experience offers a unique lens on climate action. Together, they create space to listen, learn, and reimagine how we care for one another and the world we share.

Walk 1 – Intergenerational Wisdoms:  Join an Indigenous intergenerational walk that creates space for listening across generations and honoring knowledge passed down over time. The experience invites reflection on memory, continuity, and the wisdom needed to guide future climate action.

Walk 2 – What About Our Kids?:  DearTomorrow leads a reflective conversation on the responsibilities we hold to future generations. This walk asks participants to consider what it means to act with care, urgency, and hope for the children who will live with the consequences of today’s choices.

Walk 3 – Mobilising Across Borders:  Explore the power of youth organizing and transnational solidarity in climate movement-building. Participants will reflect on how cross-border collaboration can strengthen local action and global justice.

Walk 4 – Rethinking Democracy:  Consider how democracy can be strengthened through trust, participation, and shared purpose. It offers space to reflect on the narratives and relationships needed to support more resilient civic life.

Walk 5 – Welikia: The Nature Beneath the City: Imagine the land as it existed on the eve of 1609, when the rich coastal landscape the Lenape called Welikia, "my good home," teemed with thousands of species. Guests will trace the origins of place along the Hudson and consider how aligning our lives with the ways nature operates can help our shared home endure and grow richer.
