Afternoon tea with Juliet Sear: cooking for the screen

Join us in the Food & Drink Studio for an interactive afternoon, as part of our "Food & The Arts" summer season. Hosted by acclaimed baker, author, TV personality and Fortnum's regular Juliet Sear, this special event explores how food is created not just to be eaten, but to be seen.

From baking the famous Bruce Bogtrotter chocolate cake for Matilda the Musical to producing the 'disaster bakes' for the Great British Bake Off series trailor (and many more besides), Juliet brings a wealth of experience from both the kitchen and the camera lens.

Throughout the afternoon, Juliet will share examples of her work, behind‑the‑scenes stories from filming, and practical insights into what it really takes to cook and bake for the screen. From understanding scale and structure to making food camera‑ready under pressure, she’ll reveal the tricks and techniques that ensure bakes look as good as they taste. Guests will be encouraged to engage, ask questions and learn how creativity and timing come together when food becomes part of a visual narrative.
