Afternoon Tea and Policy in Renfrewshire (2)

On the University of the West of Scotland’s Paisley campus, the UWS-Oxfam Partnership and the university’s Sustainable Policy Analysis Research Centre hold a series of five workshops.

This Eventbrite is for registration for the second workshop - 6th of December - on the issue of housing.

At these workshops, participants are invited to jointly develop a comprehensive understanding about how a range of issues – cost of living; housing; care and caring; learning and employment; health and wellbeing – play out in Renfrewshire. This includes questions such as which short-term or long-term policy solutions might work and which have not worked, who should be involved in policy making, what knowledge and experience is missing from the policy process, and who needs to be addressed in order to make change happen. Clearly, all five issues are of concern beyond Renfrewshire – however, the workshops will explore the specific local forms which these issues take.

The aim of each workshop is also to develop a tangible outcome. This could be a jointly written ‘manifesto for change’ that can be sent to decision-makers. It could also be material that participating organisations can adapt for their own advocacy purposes. Or it could be a jointly written op ed for a newspaper.

A further aim is to develop more contacts between the university and the local community.

To the workshops, the organisers invite people who can represent public, private and third sector organisations and their knowledge and insight with respect to the five themes and with respect to Renfrewshire. We also welcome individuals to contribute to the discussion.

Before each workshop, we will offer a light lunch and coffee and tea.

There is no cost for participation, and we want the event to be as informal as possible.

Depending on the relevance of the workshop themes, participants are invited to come to each workshop or only to one.
