Afternoon Open Mic Poetry at Five Points Active Adults 18+

with Freshly Brewed Poems

Join us monthly for an afternoon of Poetry and Spoken Word featuring local artist followed by an Open Mic hosted by Freshly Brewed Poems.

Every 1st Wednesday of the month from 3pm-4:30pm, a local poet/writer will be featured for approximately 20 minutes after which we invite the audience to take the mic and read their poems. While we encourage original material we don’t discourage sharing with us your favorite authors. The size of the group will determine how many poems each participant will read, but be prepared for 1 to 3 poems each or 5 minutes of prose. Socializing and signing in to read begins at 2:30pm, reading starts at 3.

Afternoon of Open Mic Poetry aims to be an intra-generational gathering of creatives working in a safe and mentoring environment. All ages are welcome. Critiques will not happen during the meeting, but we welcome you to connect with other poets for support and feedback afterwards.

This is a free event sponsored through Raleigh Rec. Registration is advised online at RecLink, https://reclink.raleighnc.gov/ or in person at any Raleigh Community Center to assure your place, but walk-ins are welcome. The monthly event is held at Five Points Center for Active Adults and open to everyone 18+.
