Terry L. Norton is a retired professor from Winthrop University. He served for twenty-seven years on the faculty of the Richard W. Riley College of Education, where he taught courses in literacy methods and diagnosis, children’s literature, and young adult literature. He had previously served on the English faculties of Clemson and Francis Marion Universities. He is the author of journal articles on multiculturalism, storytelling, the teaching of reading and writing, and children’s and young adult literature. His books, written by himself or coauthored, include the following:
1) Cooking with Mother Goose (Southern Early Childhood Association, 1997)
2) Fifty Literacy Strategies for Beginning Teachers, 1-8 (Pearson Education, 2004)
3) Cherokee Myths and Legends: Thirty Tales Retold (McFarland, 2014)
4) Trickster Tales of Southeastern Native Americans: Stories from the Creek, Natchez, Seminole, Catawba, and Cherokee (McFarland, 2023)
5) Monkey Tales Around the World: A Folklore Anthology (McFarland, 2024)
He is currently working on a book with the prospective title The Trickster Tricked: Tales of Deceivers Deceived.
