About The Speaker:
Renata Prôa is a neuroscientist, mathematician, and musician fascinated by the connections between science, creativity, and the human experience. Through speaking, music, and scientific inquiry, her work ultimately seeks to answer a question that has become increasingly important in the age of artificial intelligence: what does it mean to be human in this vast and complex universe?
Her unique background and Renaissance-like approach to education and creation, has brought her from research and technology institutions like MIT, to expeditions in the Brazilian Amazon, to the stages of Carnegie Hall and the United Nations. With a rare human-centered perspective shaped by both science and the arts, Renata has advised organizations and developed AI solutions that advance healthcare, well-being, and access to medical innovation worldwide.
Originally trained as both a mathematician and an opera singer, Renata received a Masters in Global Health from Harvard University and is currently completing her PhD in Theoretical Neuroscience at Columbia University. Drawing on expertise that spans neuroscience, music, mathematics, and global health, Renata brings a rare interdisciplinary perspective to understanding the creative brain and the remarkable connections between analytical thinking and artistic expression.
