Description: 2026 marks the centennial of the death of President Lincoln’s eldest, and only son, who lived to adulthood: Robert Todd Lincoln. To commemorate that event, Lincoln historian, Bryce Stenzel, will be offering an in-depth look at Robert Lincoln's career as a prominent attorney, Secretary of War (under presidents Garfield and Arthur), Minister to Great Britain and President of the Pullman Railroad Car Company. He will also discuss the lives of Robert Lincoln's wife, children, and grandchildren, highlighting lesser known, but interesting facts about this prominent American family.
About the Presenter: Bryce O. Stenzel, a native of Mankato, Minnesota, graduated with honors (summa cum laude) in 1990 and 1995, from Minnesota State University, Mankato, earning both a Bachelor of Science Degree for Social Studies (history) teaching, and a Master of Arts Degree in History. Mr. Stenzel has taught in both public and private schools, as well as at the collegiate level. He has written numerous books and articles on local history topics, the American Civil War, and Abraham Lincoln. He has portrayed the 16th president of the United States, as a costumed historical interpreter, to audiences throughout the United States, for over 35 years.
Bryce Stenzel currently serves as President of the Friends of the Boy in Blue Civil War Veterans Memorial organization of Mankato, President of the Mankato Area Community Band, President of the Le Sueur County Historical Society and Secretary of the New Ulm [Civil War Artillery] Battery. He currently resides in St. Clair, Minnesota.
