After Hours Murder Mystery – Case of the Lakefront Lurker

For nearly 15 years, a quiet lakefront town in Ohio has been tormented by a string of
murders. Willoughby, Ohio has now had a 5-year drought of these killings. This drought
has led citizens to form their own theories and speculate amongst themselves as to
where the locally renowned, “Lakefront Lurker” has been. Theories include that the
Lurker had passed away, was incriminated for other crimes, or had simply retired from
violent crime.
The murder spree has left its mark on the town. The murderer was believed to stalk
their victims for days before striking. Understanding the victim’s schedules and when
would be ideal to attack. The Lurker has been profiled by federal agents to be very
premeditated, highly intelligent and to show a great amount of patience. Once the killer
struck, the victims were brutally murdered and were found to have died via blunt force
trauma. The city of Willoughby was left with multiple bodies and an instinctual untrust of
their own neighbors.
Each murder scene has had its own set of obstacles in researching, but ongoing efforts
have allowed police to identify key evidence and characteristics of the crimes that they
believe will lead to the killer. The past 5 years has also allowed local Willoughby
detectives to close in on identifying whom The Lakefront Lurker could be.
June 14 th will be the 15 th anniversary of the first murder committed. There will be a
gathering of citizens and law enforcement on the anniversary. This gathering will allow
the community to close it’s darkest chapter together. Going through 5 cold cases
believed the most crucial in identifying the killer. The detectives are inviting the public to
assist in hopes of attracting all of the suspects to clear their names and additionally
bringing the actual murderer to the Viridian Bookshop in downtown to place them under
arrest.
Recreating the scenes of 5 of the murders in Willoughby, detectives believe they will finally be able
to solve the biggest question in their town’s history, “Who is the Lakefront Lurker?”
